1994-1995 Season Wattana became world number three in this season. But, his form was considered as getting struck when he failed several first rounds of tournaments. However, he still maintained the crown of Thailand Open another year by defeating Ronnie O' Sullivan 9-6. But in the next ranking tournament British Open, Ronnie won back by defeating James 6-4 in the semifinal round.
Until the last and the most important ranking tournament, the 1994 Embassy World Championship, James lost at the first round again, 8-10 by the hands of Gary Wilkinson.
